Qatar
decided to allow Visa free entry to India including 80 other countries.
Most
of these countries are from Europe, Lebanon, New Zealand, South Africa, and the
United States of America. The only requirement for the visitors will be a valid
passport. The visa exemption scheme will make Qatar one of the most open
country in the Gulf region. They have permitted 33 countries who are allowed to
stay for 180 days and the other 47 for up to 30 days. This decision was taken
to encourage air transport and tourism amid a two-month boycott imposed on the
Gulf state by its neighbors. Qatar will be hosting the soccer World Cup in
2022.
Qatar
has a high income economy that is mainly depended on its huge natural gas and
oil reserve. It is the third largest country in the world for having the
natural gas and oil reserve. It is also one of the world's largest exporter of
oil and natural gas.
Qatar
became independent from the mighty British Empire on 3rd September 1971. Arab
countries were first to recognize Qatar as an independent nation. Thereafter it
also joined the United Nations and the Arab League in the same year. Qatar
established diplomatic relations with Russia, and Communist China since 1988.
It was also an early member of OPEC and a founding member of the Gulf
Cooperation Council (GCC).
The
diplomatic relations between India and Qatar was established in 1973. Since
then India has an Embassy in Doha and Qatar has an Embassy in New Delhi. Both
the countries have maintained their diplomatic relations cordially. In 2015,
Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani visited India and five memorandum of
Understanding were signed between the two nations seeking mutual co-operations.
These five memorandums were related to Military, Economy, Trade, Non Resident
