Itinerary

Day 1Exploring Delhi!

You will arrive at the Delhi Airport. Delhi is India’s national capital and the second largest metropolis after Mumbai. Delhi has been continuously inhabited since the 6th century BC. Through most of its history, Delhi has served as a capital of various kingdoms and empires. It has been captured, ransacked and rebuilt several times, particularly during the medieval period, and modern Delhi is a cluster of a number of cities spread across the metropolitan region.
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel and after a quick break you will start your sightseeing.
On your first day, you will explore the old and new city of Delhi. You’ll be mesmerized by the 100-feet, red-stone boundary walls of Red Fort built during the 17th century. Opposite to this ancient structure is Jama Masjid (Mosque), built in 1656 AD, construction of red sandstone and white marble. It is the largest mosque in India where 20,000 people can pray together at a time. You will also tour the city in a Rickshaw. Along the streets of old Delhi you will see the Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi (Father of the Nation) Memorial, which is close to the river Yamuna. Next, you will visit Humayun’s Tomb, tomb of the second Mughal emperor, which was built by his wife during the 16th century, and then you will visit Qutub Minar, a 220-feet tower made by one of the first Muslim leaders in India, built between 1199 and 1368 AD. It runs counter to Rashtrapati Bhawan, the residence of the President of India. There you’ll also see the Government Buildings, Parliament. An overnight stay at Delhi.

Day 2Exploring Delhi Once more! (Religious Side of India)

India is the land of many religions so to explore e religious side of our mystic country, after an early breakfast; today you will visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib which is the most prominent Sikh Gurdwara, or Sikh house of worship, in Delhi, known for its association with the eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan, and the pond inside its complex, known as the “Sarovar”, whose water is considered holy by Sikhs and is known as “Amrit”. It was first built as a small temple by Sikh General, Sardar Bhagel Singh in 1783, who supervised the construction of nine Sikh shrines in Delhi in the same year, during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II. This is followed by visit to The India Gate is the national monument of India. Situated in the heart of New Delhi, the India Gate was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is inspired by the Arc de Triumph in Paris. It was built in 1931. Originally known as the All India War Memorial, it is a prominent landmark in Delhi and commemorates the 90,000 soldiers of the Indian Army who lost their lives while fighting for the Indian Empire, or more correctly the British Raj, in World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. It is composed of red and pale sandstone and granite.
The next place that you’ll visit is The Lotus temple (a.k.a Bahá’í Temple) which is open to all, regardless of any religion, or any other distinction, as emphasized in Bahá’í texts. The Bahá’í laws emphasize that the spirit of the House of Worship be that it is a gathering place where people of all religions may worship God without denominational restrictions. The Bahá’í laws also stipulate that only the holy scriptures of the Bahá’í Faith and other religions can be read or chanted inside in any language; while readings and prayers can be set to music by choirs, no musical instruments can be played inside. Furthermore no sermons can be delivered, and there can be no ritualistic ceremonies practiced. An overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 3Drive from Delhi - Agra (200 Km /2-3 Hrs)

After breakfast, you will visit Akshardham is a Hindu temple complex in Delhi, India. It is also called Delhi Akshardham or Swaminarayan Akshardham, the complex displays millennia of traditional Indian and Hindu culture, spirituality and architecture. The building was inspired and moderated by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the spiritual head of the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, whose 3,000 volunteers helped 7,000 artisans construct Akshardham.
Then you will drive to Agra, the “City of Taj” you will visit Sikandra The Tomb of Akbar the Great is an important Mughal architectural masterpiece, built 1605-1613, set in 48 Ha (119 acres) of grounds in Sikandra, a suburb of Agra. Upon your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.
In the evening you will visit to the Mehtab Bagh (Taj Mahal from the other side of the river) and the tomb of Itmad-ud-daula Often described as ‘jewel box’, sometimes called the ‘Baby Tāj’, the tomb of I’timād-ud-Daulah is often regarded as a draft of the Tāj Mahal. The mausoleum was commissioned by Nūr Jahān, the wife of Jahangir, for her father Mirzā Ghiyās Beg, originally a Persian Amir in exile. An overnight stay at Agra.

Day 4Sightseeing of Agra

Early in the morning you will visit the world-famous Taj Mahal (1631-1653). This amazing piece of architecture made of white-colored marble, was built by Mughal ruler Shah Jahan for his departed wife Mumtaz Mahal. Its architecture reveals why it’s one of the Seven Wonders of the World. For 22 years, 20,000 expert workers from Italy, France, Iran and Asia worked on the memorial. Return to hotel for breakfast.
After the breakfast, you will visit Agra Fort at the west bank of the Yamuna River. The Agra fort was built in the 16th century by Akbar and was completed by his grandsons. An overnight stay in Agra

Day 5Attending Ladies Sangeet

Indians attach a great deal of importance to marriages. The ceremonies are very colourful, and celebrations may extend for several days. The bride’s and groom’s home – entrance, doors, wall, floor, roof – are sometimes decorated with colors, balloons, and other decorations.
Today after the breakfast, you will get ready for different ceremonies peformed before the Indian wedding. If you wish you can dreesed up in Indian ethnic dresses like Saree or Leghanga.
You will visit the house of the bride and witness how the beautiful wedding customs are performed.
In the evening, you will attend Sangeet ceremony as the name suggests is all about dance and music. It is one of the most enjoyable ceremonies before the wedding. Initially, the sangeet party was organized only by the bride’s family but with changing times it is now observed by the groom’s family as well. An overnight stay in Agra

Day 6Wedding Day

In the morning, after the breakfast you will get ready to visit the house of the bride to witness the all day small rituals before the wedding.
In the afternoon, you will return to the hotel to get ready for the final day of the wedding.
In the evening, first things that might surprise is the baraat, or groom’s procession. For this, the groom arrives to the ceremony on a decorated white horse. Guests dance around him to the beat of an Indian drum. After that, the bride and her family greet the groom, and the couple exchanges floral garlands to wear around their necks to symbolize their acceptance of each other.
For the ceremony, the priest, groom, bride, and bride’s parents sit beneath a mandap, a canopy similar to a Jewish huppah. The ceremony starts off with the kanya daan, in which the bride’s parents give away the bride. Then the couple joins hands and circle around a small, enclosed fire in a ritual called the mangal phera.
Then the couple will take the saptapadi, or seven steps, as they vow to support each other and live happily together. Finally, the groom will apply a red powder to the center of the bride’s forehead and tie a black beaded necklace around her neck, symbolizing that she’s now a married woman. Day 7Departure from Agra

The President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in India earlier day to embark on his maiden four-day visit. He was accompanied by his wife Elke Büdenbender and a delegation of media, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and indologists. Earlier in the day Germany’s First Lady Büdenbender paid a visit to the historical monument Taj Mahal situated at Agra in Uttar Pradesh.
She arrived in Agra at 1:00 PM and after lunch; she visited the Taj Mahal at 3:00 PM. She stayed for about two hours at the monument. She took a keen interest in its art and architecture. She asked about the calligraphy on the royal gate of the Taj Mahal. In the visitor’s book she wrote in German “The Taj Mahal is a wonderful monument of love”
Later, she visited Sheros Café to meet the victims of acid attack. She took interest to know about their stories.

The Steinmeier’s visit to India is considered significant after German Chancellor Angela Merkel was re-elected to the German Parliament for a record fourth term on Wednesday. India-Germany bilateral economic cooperation has been robust. Germany is India’s largest trading partner in Europe and the sixth largest trading partner in the world. India was ranked 24th in Germany’s global trade.
India’s current priorities in most areas match with German expertise, such as renewable energy, skills development, Smart City, water & waste management, cleaning of rivers, railways, etc.
There are more than 15,000 Indian students in Germany and around 800 German students are doing their internship or studying in India (2017).

A group of 34 models from various countries, who are in India to participate in the Supermodel International Contest being held in Delhi from April 12-22, visited the Taj Mahal recently.
The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. It is one of the Seven Wonders of the World which is considered as the most photogenic destinations of India. It is one of the most exquisite structures ever built by any emperor. It was constructed by the fifth Mughal emperor in the fond memory of his favorite wife Mumtaj Mahal. The Taj Mahal in terms of architecture, is one of the most symmetrical structures in the world, constructed using pure white marble and adorned with precious and semi precious stones. Mr. Sandeep Kumar, the president of Rubaru Group is once again bringing the world’s biggest modeling contest to India. Supermodel International contest which is produced by Pradinunt Production Company owned by Pradit Padinunt has its headquarters in Thailand. The prestigious event began in the year 2011 and over the years it has become world’s best and biggest platform for models to taste success. In the month of March-April 2018, the Taj Mahal will be open for the night viewing from 29th March to 2nd April 2018. It is open two days before and two days after the full moon. The tickets are booked 24 hours in advance. The visitor is required to fill up a detailed form along with the copy of their passport.
Altogether, 400 tourists are permitted per night for the visit. The 400 tourists are divided into a batch of 50. There are only eight batches. The timings for the night view commences from 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM according to the Indian Standard Time.
WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE TAJ MAHAL
There are certain things which are not permitted inside the Taj Mahal. Any electronic gadget apart from your camera and mobile phone, eatables, wires, any sharp article like swiss knife, nail cutter, no religious books except travel guide books, match box, lighter, cigarette, liquor, and any promotional material.
HOW TO CLICK PHOTOGRAPHS DURING NIGHT VIEWING
The night viewing is one of the most breath taking, life time experience. The Taj is not lit up by artificial lights. It is the moonlight that lit up the entire structure. The time duration per batch is only 30 minutes, so normal photography will not be possible. In order to capture the moment, first change your camera or mobile to night vision mode. And then click the photographs. Another thing is that you will not be able to take selfie.

French President Emmanuel Macron visited Taj Mahal
Amidst tight security arrangements, French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte visited the Taj Mahal. He landed in India with his family for a four day visit. They were welcomed by Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Dinesh Sharma in Agra.  Traffic restrictions were imposed on the route that the President took to the Taj. The Archaeological Survey of India decided to shut the Taj Mahal to the general public between 4:00 pm onward.
President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte spend over an hour at the Taj Mahal and took a keep interest in its architecture especially the marble inlay work.
The Indo-French cooperation in the area of space is more than five-decades-old. Besides conventional areas; thrust would also be on renewable energy, high-speed train and stepping cooperation in trade. The two countries would look to boost ties, especially in the areas of maritime security and counter-terrorism. An agreement on the Jaitapur nuclear power plant, which is being built with French assistance, is expected to be signed during the visit. Besides defense, cooperation in the areas of nuclear energy and space are the other pillars of the strategic partnership between India and France.

Day 3Delhi to Jaipur (By air-conditioned train Dep 0610 Hrs Arr 1040 Hours)

Early morning pick up from hotel & transfer to railway station to board the superfast airconditioned train to Jaipur. You will have breakfast in the train. Upon arrival you will be transferred to the hotel. Later sight seeing tour of Jaipur covering: City Palace – A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum.
Then you will visit Jantar Mantar. It is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. This observatory consisting of outsized astronomical instruments is still in use.
Later you will visit Hawa Mahal.It is the ornamental facade of this “Palace of Winds” is a prominent landmark in Jaipur. Their five-storey structures of sandstone plastered pink encrusted with fine trelliswork and elaborate balconies. The palace has 953 niches and windows. Built in 1799 by Pratap Singh, the Mahal was a royal grandstand for the palace women. An overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 4Jaipur

After breakfast you will proceed to Amber Fort. You will assend the fort on the back of an Elephant. Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Its construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his descendent Jai Singh I. Its forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds its ultimate expression. Continue sight-seeing of Jaigarh Fort. It Western skyline is dominated by the extensive parkotas (Walls), watch-towers and gateways of Jaigarh. It is one of the few military structures of medieval India preserved almost intact containing palaces, gardens, open and covered reservoirs, a grannary, an armoury, a well planned cannon foundry, several temples, a tall tower and giant mounted cannon the Jai Ban the largest in the Country.
Then you will visit Laxmi Narayan Temple which is situated in the south of Jaipur. It is one of the many such temples built by wealthy Birla family in India, thus it is also known as Birla Mandir. The temple is a great reminder of the secular traditions India has shown over the centuries. The temple has been constructed in white marble and has three domes, each portraying the different approaches to religion. The temple is situated at the foot of Moti Doongri Fort, converted as a small palace by Ram Singh II for his wife Gayatri Devi. An overnight stay in Jaipur.

Day 5Drive from Jaipur to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri

After breakfast drive to Agra enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri-The deserted, red Sandstone City, Emperor Akbar built that as his capital and palace in the late 16th century is an exhilarating experience. It a veritable fairytale city and its “ruins” are in pristine condition … it’s not hard to imagine what the court life must have been like in the days of its grandeur. Also visit the Bulund Darwaza, the largest gateway in the world. Continue drive to Agra and transfer to hotel. An overnight stay in Agra.

Day 6An overnight train from Agra to Varanasi

Early morning at sunrise visit Taj Mahal- the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan, built it in 1631 in the memory of his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, a Muslim Persian princess. She died while accompanying her husband in Behrampur in a campaign to crush a rebellion, after giving birth to their 14th child. Her death so crushed the emperor that all his hair and beard were said to have grown snow white in a few months. When Mumtaz Mahal was still alive, she extracted four promises from the emperor: first, that he build the Taj; second, that he should marry again; third, that he be kind to their children; and fourth, that he visit the tomb on her death anniversary. He kept the first and second promises. Construction began in 1631 and was completed in 22 years. Twenty thousand people were deployed to work on it. An Iranian architect designed it and it is best appreciated when the architecture and its adornments are linked to the passion that inspired it. It is a “symbol of eternal love”.
Also visit Agra Fort-the rusty and majestic red-sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river Yamuna and the construction was started by Emperor Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan-I-Am (hall of public audience), a colonnaded hall of red-sandstone with a throne alcove of inlaid marble at the back, the Emperor heard public petitions. At the Diwan-I-Khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem-studded Peacock Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms. Late evening transfer to railway station to board the air-conditioned train to Varanasi. An overnight stay in Agra.

Day 7Varanasi

On arrival in Varanasi railwaystation meet assisr and transfer to hotel. Later sight seeing of Varanasi (the oldest and holiest city of India) covering Temples, Aurangazeb’s Mosque and the biggest university of India. In the evening, you will view “Aarti” ceremony on the Ghats. An overnight stay in Varanasi.

Day 8Train from Varanasi to New Jalpaiguri (nearest railway station to Darjeeling)

Early in the morning, you will go for boat ride at the river Ganges to observe the way of life of pilgrims by the Ghats. Later, you will drive to Sarnath, 10 kms. In the East of Varanasi, is one of the Buddhism’s major centers of India. After attaining enlightenment, the Buddha came to Sarnath where he gave his first sermon. Visit the deer park and the museum and later back to Varanasi to board the air-conditioned train to New Jalpaiguri (nearest railway sttaion to Darjeeling). Day 9Darjeeling

Arrival at New Jalpaiguri (nearest railway sttaion to Darjeeling) and transfer to Darjeeling (94 Kms/3hrs). An overnight stay in Darjeeling.

Day 10Darjeeling Sightseeing

Early in the morning, you will visit Tiger hill to watch the spectacular sunrise and its amazing effects on the Mt. Kanchendzo- nga (world 3rd highest). Visit Ghoom Monastery and Natasha Loop War Memorial while returning to the hotel. You will come back to your hotel for breakfast, followed by full day local sightseeing covering Padmajan, Zoological Garden, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tibetan Refugee Self-help Center and visit to the Local Market. Day 11 Flight from Darjeeling to Kolkata

Day 4Full day sightseeing of Agra

Early morning you will visit the world-famous Taj Mahal (1631-1653). This amazing piece of architecture made of white-colored marble, was built by Mughal ruler Shah Jahan for his departed wife Mumtaz Mahal. Its architecture reveals why it’s one of the Seven Wonders of the World. For 22 years, 20,000 expert workers from Italy, France, Iran and Asia worked on the memorial. Return to hotel for breakfast.
After the breakfast, you will visit Agra Fort at the west bank of the Yamuna River. The Agra fort was built in the 16th century by Akbar and was completed by his grandsons.

Day 5 Drive from Agra to Ranthambore via Fatehpur Sikri (250 Km /4-5 Hrs)

You will ascend the fort on an elephant back like a Maharaja. On the way, you will stop to visit the city’s landmark: the Hawa Mahal (palace of the winds). Built during the 18th century, the five-story building features 953 windows and niches from which the royal women observed the procession in the street without being seen. Day 8 Full day sightseeing of Jaipur

After that you will visit Jantar Mantar, an observatory. It was built in the 18th century by the city founder Jai Singh II. The instruments are out of stone and marble and served to the sky observation. In the evening an excursion to Nahargarh Tiger Fort, to have the bird’s eye view of Jaipur city. Day 9Drive from Jaipur to Pushkar (150 Km/ 2 Hours)

Day 10Drive from Pushkar to Udaipur (287 km, 6-7 Hours)

In the morning after breakfast, you will drive to Udaipur. Upon arrival you will be transferred to the hotel.
Later, you will explore Udaipur which lies in the Girwa valley in the middle of the Aravali hill and is described as a romantic city with its lakes, gardens, temple and palaces.
Then in the afternoon, you will visit Monsoon Palace also known as Sajjan Garh Palace the summer resort of the Maharajas is atop the hill overlooking all of the lakes. This palace had a way to collect rain water for consumption all year around. Thereafter you will visit Sahelion ki Bari was laid for a group of forty-eight young women attendants who accompanied a princess to Udaipur as part of her dowry. The gardens set below the embankment of the Fatah Sagar Lake have lotus pools, marble pavilions and elephant-shaped fountains. You will then visit the Jagdish temple. Built in 1651 AD this temple is a beautiful example of the Nagara style temple architecture. You will also enjoy a boat trip on the Pichola Lake. Day 12Departure from Udaipur to New Delhi
